OUR APPROACH · YOUR FIRST VISIT

What To Expect At Your First Visit

Your first visit is more than an evaluation. During your 75-minute comprehensive physical therapy evaluation, Dr. Paige takes time to understand your history, assess how your whole body moves, begin treatment when appropriate, and build a clear plan for what comes next.

One-on-one. In your home. No rushed handoffs. No wondering what happens next.

THE FIRST 75 MINUTES, WALKED THROUGH

What Happens At Your First Physical Therapy Visit?

Your first visit is a 75-minute comprehensive evaluation in your own home. It includes a detailed history, whole-body movement assessment, hands-on treatment when appropriate, and a personalized plan of care you understand before the visit ends.

Reviewed by Dr. Thea Paige, PT, DPT, CMTPT, PCES (about Dr. Paige).

Everything travels to you: the treatment table, clinical equipment, and one-on-one attention. All you need is enough space to move comfortably and an area where the treatment table can be set up.

THE METHOD, IN YOUR FIRST VISIT

How Does The Evaluation Actually Unfold?

Your evaluation follows the same clinical philosophy that guides The Divine Restore & Reset Movement Method™.

STEP O1

Assess

We start with your story: what changed, what hurts, what you have already tried, what makes symptoms better or worse, and what you need your body to do again. Dr. Paige then evaluates the area of concern while also assessing relevant mobility, strength, balance, breathing, and movement patterns throughout the body.

STEP O2

Restore

When appropriate, treatment begins during your first visit.

Hands-on techniques and targeted movement are selected based on what your assessment reveals and how your body responds during the session.

STEP O3

Own It

Before the visit ends, you will understand the key findings from your evaluation, what you can begin working on independently, and the recommended next steps for your care.

Your home program is intentionally focused. Rather than sending you home with a long list of exercises, Dr. Paige prioritizes the movements most relevant to your current findings and goals.

STEP O4

Reset When Needed

As you progress, treatment evolves with you. The goal is not indefinite therapy. It is to help you develop the strength, mobility, confidence, and strategies to manage your body independently, with access to targeted care when something changes or you need additional support.

WHOLE-BODY KINEMATICS

What Is The Movement Assessment Looking For?

The goal is not simply to identify where you hurt. It is to understand the factors that may be contributing to why the problem keeps showing up and determine what can realistically be changed.

The area that hurts is not always the only area contributing to the problem. Your assessment examines the symptomatic region while also looking at relevant areas above and below it and considering how mobility, strength, breathing, coordination, and movement strategies may influence the way your body manages load.

For example, knee symptoms during running may be influenced by how the hip, ankle, or foot manages movement. Shoulder symptoms may be affected by mobility or control through the neck, rib cage, or upper back.

BY THE END OF THE VISIT

What Will You Leave Your First Visit With?

Your plan may change as your body responds and your goals evolve. It is reassessed throughout care rather than predetermined from the beginning.

01. A clear explanation of the key findings from your assessment

02. Treatment initiated when clinically appropriate

03. A personalized plan of care and recommended visit frequency

04. A focused home program you understand and can realistically follow

05. A clearer understanding of what you can do independently between visits

Why Does Being Treated At Home Matter?

"Treating someone in their own environment reveals things a traditional clinic cannot always show me - the chair they work from, the stairs they navigate every day, where they lift their baby, the equipment they actually exercise with, or the movements they routinely avoid. That context gives me another layer of clinical information and helps me build a plan that works in real life, not just in the treatment room."

PELVIC HEALTH VISITS

What If Your First Visit Is For Pelvic Health?

The overall structure remains the same: history, whole-body assessment, treatment, education, and a plan. The difference is that privacy and consent are addressed explicitly throughout the visit.

An internal pelvic floor examination may be offered when clinically appropriate, but it is never required. You may decline or stop any portion of the examination or treatment at any time. Meaningful assessment and treatment options remain available using external examination and movement findings.

In-home care can also make postpartum visits easier. Your baby can remain with you, and feeding, holding your baby, or taking a pause when needed can simply be part of the session.
