Dry Needling, Explained By Someone Who Has Done It For A Decade
Dr. Thea Paige has been a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist through Myopain Seminars since 2017: nearly a decade of daily needling woven into whole-person physical therapy, delivered in your own home. This page explains what dry needling actually is, what the evidence supports, what it feels like, and, first, because it matters most, who shouldn't have it.

THE BASICS
What Is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a treatment in which a physical therapist inserts a thin, solid filament needle - no medication, hence "dry" - into a myofascial trigger point: a tender, contracted knot within a taut band of muscle. The goal is to interrupt that dysfunctional tissue and the nervous-system pattern maintaining it, reducing pain and restoring normal movement.
At Divine Physical Therapy, dry needling is never a standalone service. It is folded into a 75-minute, one-on-one session - with your signed informed consent, at no additional charge - as one tool inside a comprehensive plan of care that includes movement retraining and progressive loading. Sessions take place in your home, across Stafford County, Fredericksburg, and the surrounding Virginia communities.
